Snake head Murrel Fish with Dry Mango and Mustard Seeds Masala (Besara) Gravy

- 250gm Snake head Murrel Fish/Shol Macha
- 4-5 tablespoon Cooking oil
- 2 onions chopped
- 3 tablespoon Mustard Seeds (Sarson/Rai)
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds (jeera)
- 5-6 garlic cloves (lehsun)
- 3-4 Red dry chilli (mirchi)
- 2 inches ginger (adrak)
- 2 dry mango pieces
- 3 tablespoon turmeric (haldi) powder
- 1 big size tomato chopped
- 1 green chilli
- 1 tablespoon Panch phoron -[cumin seeds (jeera), mustard seeds (Sarson), fennel seeds (saunf), fenugreek seeds (methi), nigella seed (kala jeera)]
- 5-6 Curry leaves (Karipatta)
- Marinate the fish pieces with some turmeric powder and salt.
- Prepare a paste of Mustard Seeds (Sarson/Rai), garlic cloves (lehsun), Red dry chilli (mirchi), ginger (adrak), cumin seeds (jeera) by smooth mixture grinder.
- Heat cooking oil in a pan or kadai and fry both sides of the fish pieces well until to golden brown. Keep aside in a plate.
- Heat again the pan with cooking oil and add Panch phoron, green chilli chopped and curry leaves.
- When it starts cracking, add chopped onions. Stir it well till to brown.
- Add chopped tomato and mix it well.
- Add prepared paste of mustard seeds (Sarson/Rai) and other ingredients and stir it. Cook it for 3 mins on low flame.
- Add water as per your gravy thickness. Let it cook for 2-3 min on high flame till boiled well.
- Add dry mango pieces into the pan. Mix it well in gravy.
- Lastly add fried fish pieces in the pan and cook it for ½ min and add coriander leaves (dhaniya pata) chopped.
- Now Snake head Murrel Fish/Shol Macha recipe is ready to serve hot with steamed rice.
